Laura was killed today in a car accident along with two of her good friends. She was a Junior at Bryan County High School in Pembroke. She was on the track team and truly loved the sport. She was very proud of her honors and awards won at school. She worked in the kitchen at Black Creek Golf Club which inspired her dream of furthering her knowledge of culinary arts; she loved to cook. Laura was difficult at times (what teenager isn't??) but overall she was a  wonderful kid. Laura was someone that everyone liked and thought well of. The shock and tragedy is still very raw to everyone who knew her, especially her family. She will be missed very much and remembered always.

Today final arrangements were made with Tommy from Morrison's Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5-9 PM on Sunday, March 25, 2007. Memorial Service will be held at the funeral home chapel on Monday, March 26, 2007 at 11:00 AM. I (Rachel, her aunt) am proud to have the honor to officiate her service on Monday, although this is one task I wish I never had to do. Also, today I paid the website membership fee so Laura's memorial page will be online forever and everyone can visit as often as they like.

I would like to thank everyone who came to Laura's memorial service today to honor her. I would also like to thank everyone who has sent flowers and cards to the family as well as thanks to everyone who has visited this page (and her guestbook at the Savannah Morning News page) and left such wonderful comments and memories about Laura. Life will certainly be lacking without her physically here, but life must go on. Even though she isn't here in body she is definitely here in spirit, in our hearts and minds.

18 years ago today Laura came into our lives. Unfortunately she is no longer here to celebrate with us. The 17 years we had were wonderful and I am thankful for them. On Friday, March 21, 2008 there will be a candle light vigil at the accident site for Laura, Heather and Melissa Arthur. May they all rest peacefully and never be forgotten.

Today was the hearing for Tam Le, the driver of the car in which Laura, Melissa and Heather were killed on March 21, 2007. He received a sentence of 30 years with 4.5 to be served in the state penitentiary and 25 probation.  Nothing will bring these girls back, nothing will take away the pain and sorrow of losing them but at least the legal unknowing and wondering is over and done.
